About The Position

Launch Potato is seeking a Lead Creative Strategist to own the upstream strategy behind their performance creative. This role involves writing briefs that specify persona, hook rationale, format, platform context, CTA, and performance hypothesis. The strategist will determine what creative gets made, for whom, and why it should succeed, ensuring precision in communication from strategy to execution. This position is part of a centralized hub-and-spoke creative model, feeding the hub with concepts and performance intelligence while media buyers test across verticals. The goal is to ensure all creative is grounded in audience understanding, not just intuition.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with direct response creative strategy ownership and performance media buying.
  • Demonstrated understanding of strong hooks, persona targeting, and what makes users stop scrolling.
  • Proven experience writing production-ready briefs that creative teams execute without revision rounds.
  • Performance data fluency: ability to read results, identify drivers, and translate findings into creative direction.
  • Experience managing UGC creators from sourcing through delivery.
  • Ability to work across multiple verticals and formats simultaneously without losing strategic focus.
  • Strong copywriting ability (scripts, hooks, headlines, ad copy).
  • Experience leveraging AI tools like Claude or AI Asset Production tools to drive creative strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end briefing process for all creative production (static, short-form video, long-form DR, display, YouTube, emerging formats).
  • Maintain a rolling content backlog with at least 4 weeks of net-new concepts ready for briefing.
  • Meet monthly throughput targets for net-new concepts across Launch Potato's vertical portfolio.
  • Manage the balance between net-new concepts and iterations to maximize testing cadence and exploit proven winners.
  • Proactively identify untested formats and underserved verticals for inclusion in the testing queue.
  • Analyze creative performance data with the paid media team to identify winners, flag fatigue, and determine next testing steps.
  • Translate performance findings into new briefs and updated creative direction.
  • Maintain Launch Potato's creative playbook, documenting winning formulas by persona, vertical, and format.
  • Lead competitive creative research to study winning formats, hooks, and approaches in LP's verticals and flag emerging opportunities.
  • Drive cross-vertical learning by identifying successful concepts in one vertical and adapting them for others.
  • Own the UGC creator pipeline from sourcing, vetting, contracting, briefing, to performance review.
  • Maintain the Airtable UGC creator dashboard, tracking creator profiles, availability, performance, and brief status.
  • Write creator briefs specific enough to reduce revision cycles and increase the likelihood of usable first deliveries.
  • Build and manage creator relationships across Launch Potato's full vertical portfolio.
