About The Position

Boulevard is hiring a Lead Counsel to handle commercial deals, advise on regulatory and product questions related to operating a payments platform in a regulated market, and support the everyday legal needs of a fast-growing company. Reporting to the General Counsel, the Lead Counsel will work autonomously, partner directly with teams across Boulevard, and escalate genuinely novel, high-risk, or strategic matters. The role offers broad ownership and the opportunity to shape how Legal supports and scales with the business. The Lead Counsel will serve as the dedicated legal partner to a portfolio of product and business teams. The role spans payments and FinTech, healthcare and MedSpa compliance, consumer protection, marketing, privacy, data governance, intellectual property, dispute resolution, commercial contracting, and other general legal matters. The successful candidate will bring sound judgment, strong commercial depth, and a practical, solutions-oriented approach to enabling business progress while managing risk.

  • 5 to 8 years of combined law-firm and in-house experience.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, own matters end to end, and make and defend judgment calls with limited oversight.
  • Strong command of technology and commercial contracting, with the ability to balance risk and speed.
  • Comfort working across commercial, regulatory, privacy, corporate, and employment questions, and resourcefulness in learning unfamiliar areas quickly.
  • Practical, solutions-oriented communication style; ability to make complex issues clear to non-lawyers and enable the business.
  • Ability to work effectively with incomplete information, competing priorities, and a fast-moving business.
