About The Position

Tigg's Canteen Services is hiring a Full-Time Lead Cook to join our team at the Calhoun County Jail in Battle Creek, Michigan. This role is for individuals who are dependable, hardworking, and comfortable taking a leadership role in a kitchen, taking pride in preparing quality meals and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work in a structured correctional environment
• Ability to read and follow company recipes and instructions
• Strong communication and leadership abilities
• Dependability and good attendance
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively with others
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to successfully obtain facility clearance

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in food service, restaurants, institutional kitchens, schools, healthcare, or correctional food service is helpful.
• Dependable, willing to learn, and ready to take an active role in the kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily kitchen operation and ensure meals are prepared safely, efficiently, and according to company standards.
• Preparing, cooking, and serving meals
• Following company recipes and meal production guidelines
• Assisting with baking and food preparation
• Helping with kitchen cleanup and sanitation
• Providing direction and assistance to kitchen staff
• Monitoring food quality and proper food handling
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen
• Helping ensure meals are completed on time
• Working as part of a team to keep daily kitchen operations running smoothly
