About The Position

Tigg's Canteen Services is seeking a Full-Time Lead Cook to oversee daily kitchen operations and help provide quality meal service at the Grand Traverse County Jail in Traverse City, Michigan. This role is for an experienced food service professional looking to take the next step into a leadership role. The ideal candidate is dependable, motivated, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, structured environment.

Requirements

• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Works well in a structured correctional setting
• Can read and follow standardized recipes
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Takes pride in producing quality food and maintaining a clean kitchen
• Enjoys working as part of a team
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to obtain facility security clearance
• Availability to work rotating weekends and holidays
• Flexibility to work shifts between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
• Previous food service experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead and support daily kitchen operations
• Prepare, cook, and bake meals according to company recipes
• Train and assist kitchen staff
• Ensure meals are prepared safely, efficiently, and on schedule
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
• Help create a positive, team-oriented work environment
