About The Position

This role involves leading and mentoring a team of Controls Engineers, ensuring adherence to company standards, and contributing to the design, installation, optimization, and adaptation of electronic control systems and instruments for industrial processes. The position requires a blend of technical expertise in automation, PLC/HMI configuration, data analysis, and leadership responsibilities including performance reviews and team coordination. The work is primarily independent and collaborative, contributing to complex project aspects and potentially guiding team members.

Requirements

  • 7+ years’ controls engineering experience
  • Strong working experience and understanding of Electrical Design and Engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree and/or technical school certification received with industry experience is preferred OR Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering preferred.
  • material handling or manufacturing experienced preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of PLC Programming (Allen Bradley, RSLogix 5000) preferred
  • Strong experience with design, inter-connection and configuration of PLCs systems is a plus.
  • Working experience with Conveyor and Robotic Systems within material handling or manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Demonstratable HMI Development experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Manager of Controls Engineering to improve data analytics techniques and tools, standardize and improve output, and drive process efficiency to promote consistent, best in class output from the team
  • Mentor newer, less experienced Engineering team members ensuring that they are meeting Hy-Tek standards and procedures, properly analyzing data, and utilizing tools available
  • Review and verify work for newer, less experienced data analysts
  • Responsible for HR related tasks such as performance reviews, approving and reviewing timecards, and approving time off requests.
  • Host recurring team meetings to ensure alignment and provide opportunity for collaboration
  • Assist with coordinating Controls Engineer assignments and provide team member support and mentoring
  • Assist in onboarding, and training of Controls Engineers
  • Designs, installs, optimizes, and adapts electronic control systems and instruments to automate and monitor industrial processes.
  • Develops technical designs, process diagrams, SCADA block diagrams, and control schematics to implement automation controls.
  • Configures systems using PLC and HMI techniques.
  • Develops and deploys HMI applications.
  • Models, tests, and measures output and data to analyze performance or quality issues and develop solutions.
  • Manages Scanner and Camera setup and deployment.
  • Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.
  • May provide guidance and/or share knowledge of all aspects of the role with team.
  • All other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
