About The Position

VTG is seeking a Lead Configuration Management Specialist to support our customer. This role is responsible for comprehensive configuration management planning, including provisions for configuration identification, change control, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits. The specialist will identify and maintain the original configuration of documentation and software, regulate the change process to ensure only approved changes are incorporated, and track all problems and changes, reporting on current configurations. They will also support audits to verify baseline requirements and software quality assurance processes. The role involves administering Configuration Management (CM) activities and processes for complex systems and engineering processes, developing and implementing procedures for engineering documents, and reviewing released engineering change data. The specialist will ensure adherence to CM requirements, provide visibility and control of system attributes, analyze the impact of design changes, coordinate modification records, and ensure management knowledge and consent for all changes to complex systems. Verification of implemented changes and accurate documentation reflecting the true configuration is crucial. The role facilitates the orderly management of system information and changes to improve capability, performance, reliability, maintainability, extend life, reduce cost, mitigate risk, or correct defects, ensuring documentation accuracy and consistency with the physical design.

Requirements

BA/BS in a technical discipline
At least 10 years of experience
Must have and maintain a Secret clearance
Eligible for a Top Secret clearance

Responsibilities

Responsible for configuration management planning.
Describes provisions for configuration identification, change control, configuration status accounting and configuration audits.
Responsible for configuration planning.
Identifies and maintains the original configuration of requirements documentation, design documentation, software and related documentation.
Responsible for configuration change control.
Regulates the change process so that only approved and validated changes are incorporated into product documents and related software.
Responsible for configuration status accounting.
Tracks all problems and changes in product documents and software and reports changes and current configuration.
Responsible for configuration audits.
Supports audits to verify that requirements of all baselines have been met by the as-built software.
Supports software quality assurance process audits.
Administers the Configuration Management (CM) activities and processes for establishing and managing changes and consistency in the performance of complex systems and product engineering processes, preventing catastrophic consequences such as failure of equipment or loss of life, in military, aerospace, industrial, and/or civil engineering organizations.
Develops procedures for and implements changes to engineering documents.
Reviews released engineering change data and documentation activities, and coordinates and implements system documentation, ensuring adherence to CM requirements, procedures, and policies.
Provides visibility and control of performance, functional, and physical attributes over the life cycle of a system, process, or project.
Analyzes, proposes, evaluates, and implements changes of a system, process, or product design to determine their anticipated impact on the overall system, process, or product, using a standardized, systematic approach that ensures consistency.
Coordinates modification records for management control.
Establishes change orders and prepares for change authorization and documentation.
Reviews and analyzes released engineering change data and coordinates changes.
Ensures that all changes to complex systems are performed with the knowledge and consent of management.
Verifies that changes are carried out as prescribed, that systems and products perform as intended, and that documentation of items and systems is detailed to reflect their true configuration and support their projected life cycle.
Facilitates orderly management of system information and system changes for such beneficial purposes as to revise capability; improve performance, reliability, or maintainability; extend life; reduce cost; reduce risk and liability; or correct defects.
Ensures that documentation, such as requirements, design, test, and acceptance documentation, for items is accurate and consistent with the actual physical design of the item.
