About The Position
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Lead Compost Facility Operator to oversee daily operations at our compost facility. This role requires a hands-on leader who can operate heavy equipment, manage basic administrative tasks, and effectively communicate with both team members and the public during events and outreach activities.
Requirements
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment required
- Basic computer skills, including email and Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
Nice To Haves
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Experience in composting, waste management, or landscaping
- Mechanical aptitude for minor equipment troubleshooting
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently (loaders, grinders, or similar equipment)
- Lead daily compost operations including material processing, site organization, and quality control
- Monitor and maintain equipment and report maintenance needs
- Track basic operational data using Excel and email communication
- Support team scheduling and workflow coordination
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
- Represent the facility during public tours, community events, and outreach programs
- Provide excellent customer service and communication with visitors, vendors, and team members
