About The Position

The Lead Compliance Engineer at Bren-Tronics, part of EnerSys and a manufacturer of advanced power solutions, ensures Bren-Tronics’ products are in line with the appropriate regulatory standards applicable to domestic and international markets. This role is responsible for identifying applicable regulatory standards, obtaining regulatory certificates from suppliers, and marshalling Bren-Tronics resources and efforts to obtain regulatory certifications for products developed in-house. The position is also responsible for maintaining a database of regulatory certificates and regulatory test data for Bren-Tronics’ products. Certain positions at EnerSys Advanced Systems require access to information or technology that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and other U.S. government security regulations. Candidates for these positions should be a “U.S. Person” under ITAR (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or a refugee/asylee) and/or otherwise comply with ITAR requirements for access rights to be considered for a position. Requirements

  • 8+ years as an engineer, Engineering Program Manager role preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Strong technical acumen
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent critical thinking for problem solving
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in export compliance strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop forecasts and perform short and long-range planning for projects.
  • Serve as an internal technical expert for regulations and compliance.
  • Provide directions to shipping and sales on lithium ion battery transportation safety regulations, testing and training.
  • Direct shipping personnel on packing and labeling requirements in compliance with lithium battery transportation regulations.
  • Coordinate UN performance packaging certification testing.
  • Serve as the on-site export compliance manager by collaborating with legal, advising internal teams on export controlled projects and enforcing company export compliance policies.
  • Support Sales with tariff classifications and customs-related issues.
  • Provide technical guidance for other engineering personnel.
  • Conduct periodic review of evidence generated by practices and procedures to ensure complete and accurate coverage of systems and components.
  • Develop any necessary corrective action plans to address events or process failures related to standard requirements.
  • Assist in conducting self-assessments, audit preparations, compiling self-reports and developing mitigation plans.
  • Continue to stay informed of relevant regulatory standards by tracking new requirements and interacting with 3rd party testing facilities and agencies.
  • Develop and maintain consistent practices and procedures across the organization to ensure that evidence produced by different work groups is timely and contains the required compliance data.
  • When compliance problems arise, conduct investigations to discover the roots of the issue.
