Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s Degree, or Machinist Apprentice (or similar) graduate with 3 years of experience with graphical based CAM System CNC Programming [OR] High School Degree w/6 years of experience with graphical based CAM System CNC Programming.

Nice To Haves

  • Siemens NX CAM experience (1953 or later)
  • Extensive experience machining nickel-based superalloys (Inconel, Rene, Hastelloy, etc.) common in Heavy Duty Gas Turbine (HDGT) or Aerospace industry
  • Strong familiarity with multiple machine controls including Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, & Siemens
  • Proven experience with variable-based programming, macro routines, and advanced Renishaw probing for "closed-loop" machining and automated error-trapping.
  • Significant "hands-on" background as a machinist, with the ability to personally setup and prove out complex first-piece programs.
  • A track record of managing tight tolerances on large-format equipment (VTLs/VBMs up to 2.5m) where part deflection and thermal stability are critical factors
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Machine Tool Technology.
  • Strong problem solving and organization skills, with above average shop math skills in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Demonstrated proficiency interpreting drawing requirements.
  • Ability to multi-task and productively manage multiple projects concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Generate toolpath and create CNC programs utilizing Siemens NX-CAM 2412
  • Support large Toshulin VTL processes (up to 2.5m)
  • Simulate all CNC programs prior to release to the shop floor utilizing Vericut v9.6.
  • Incorporate on-machine probing for part and process validation (including error trapping)
  • Define tooling and work holding for new processes as well as optimize tooling and work holding for existing processes
  • Create and manage tool libraries in a TDM database
  • Develop new or modify existing processes to ensure safety and process security
  • Prove out new programs alongside machine operators and manufacturing engineers
  • Create programs following standards and qualified machining parameters
  • Provide CNC related support to M.E. (Manufacturing Engineer) and provide operator training as warranted
  • Provide daily operator support and problem solving to the shop
  • Generate and support workstation instructions (methods) for CNC related issues.
  • Initiate and lead process improvement projects to improve safety, quality, cost and delivery.
  • Provide effective communication to appropriate team members when needed.
  • Work effectively as an individual and in a team-based environment in a matrixed organization.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while embracing and driving positive change inside and outside the organization when appropriate.
