Requirements

  • Experienced registered nurse who will display leadership and communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the state required.
  • ACLS & BLS current.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and supports the nursing staff while also caring for patients.
  • Maintains a high level of patient care and acts as a resource for both patient care and staff / patient education.
  • Participates in and advises the centers Quality Council and other internal performance improvement teams.
  • Supervises and assists the nursing staff in all areas of the surgical center, patient care as well as providing support to the Clinical Leadership team.
  • Supervises the general flow of patients during the day, assessing and assisting the nursing staff as needs arise.
  • Ensures collecting data and reporting assigned mandatory and center specific monthly and quarterly reports for trends / areas of improvement to the Quality Council.
  • Conducts Medical Record Audit reports (Total of 5 charts monthly representing each specialty).
  • Conducts Adverse Drug Reaction reports.
  • Conducts Narcotic Audits (Monthly).
  • Conducts Diversion Risk Rounds (Quarterly with the Diversion Specialist).
  • Conducts Handwash Audits (Monthly).
  • Conducts Infection Control Best Practices (Monthly).
  • Conducts Housekeeping Rounds (Monthly).
  • Assists with additional reports and audits as requested.
  • Assists with maintaining Center Survey Readiness.
  • Assesses center compliance with accreditation standards and regulations in collaboration with leadership and staff.
  • Identifies areas of vulnerability and assists with the development of strategies to enhance compliance.
  • Communicates effectively throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned by Center Administrators.
  • Promotes the highest standards of clinical nursing care.
  • Leads and supervises the work of the staff nurses.
  • Maintains good working relationships with the nursing and care team, attends staff meetings and encourages input from the whole team on improvements to the care service.
  • Communicates all requests and changes of practice to all relevant personnel.
  • Ensures all staff comply with the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensures all staff comply with regulatory requirements i.e Infection Control.
