About The Position

The Lead Pharmacist assists the pharmacy leadership team in facilitating the daily operational or clinical activities of the pharmacy. This role involves oversight of a designated area, service line, initiative, or specialty within the pharmacy department. The Lead Pharmacist may also be responsible for guiding the orientation and training of new and existing staff, monitoring competency, and potentially serving as a Residency Program Director or Coordinator. Leadership in and/or participation in relevant committees is also expected. The lead position can be further designated as Operations, Clinical, or a Dual Role/Combination.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree of Science in Pharmacy (Required) or Doctorate Degree Pharm D (Required)
1+ years of pharmacy experience (Required)
Knowledge of pharmacy information systems, automated dispensing technology and personal computers. (Preferred proficiency)
Ability to work on a team. (Required proficiency)
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. (Required proficiency)
Leadership skills. (Required proficiency)
Professional demeanor. (Required proficiency)
Registered Pharmacist (R.Ph) State of Ohio (Required Upon Hire)

Completion of an ASHP accredited residency(ies) (Preferred)

Responsibilities

Oversight of a designated area, service line, initiative or specialty within the pharmacy department.
May require Responsible Person/TDDD license responsibility for a designated pharmacy.
Guide the orientation and training of new and existing professional and technical staff for their specific job descriptions; monitor and/or assess ongoing competency.
May serve as a Residency Program Director or Coordinator.
Leadership of and/or participation in relevant local and/or system committees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all policies and standards.
Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
Concurrent practice as a Clinical Pharmacist (for Operations Lead).
Concurrent practice as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist (for Clinical Lead).
Primary resource and point of escalation for operational issues (for Operations Lead).
Oversight and/or support of department operations, including but not limited to: workflow, technology, inventory, staffing and daily logistics (for Operations Lead).
Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations (for Operations Lead).
Ensure controlled substance security and accountability measures (for Operations Lead).
Assist in the development and enforcement of operational policy and procedure (for Operations Lead).
Primary resource and point of escalation for clinical practice issues (for Clinical Lead).
Oversight and/or support of clinical service line(s) (for Clinical Lead).
Develop and standardize clinical intervention processes (for Clinical Lead).
Involvement in multidisciplinary teaching and education (for Clinical Lead).
Assist in the development and enforcement of clinical practice guidelines/order sets, treatment plans, policy and procedure (for Clinical Lead).
