The Lead Clinical Nurse (LCN) provides guidance and direction to professional employees and ancillary staff under the direction of the Nurse Executive. This role ensures the organization’s strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated and integrated into the team’s strategies, goals, objectives, work plans, and work products and services. The LCN identifies training needs, monitors work progress, and communicates with the Nurse Executive for resources and decision-making. A professional and caring attitude is essential when dealing with patients, families, healthcare providers, and other departments. The LCN supports a positive workplace environment and maintains professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education. This role performs clinical nursing duties, including patient interviews, health assessments, developing care plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The LCN is clinically responsible for independent patient management, utilizing Evidence-based Guidelines for Practice, and participating in the on-call schedule. They provide leadership in process improvement, participate in hospital committees related to patient care, and complete all yearly Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) required training, assisting in compliance with CMS standards. Other duties as assigned.
