Bargaining Unit: UUP Job Summary: The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist 2 / Lead Technologist, Pathology/Hematology & Urinalysis. The successful candidate will: Adhere to departmental, hospital and governmental regulations. Serve as the Assistant Supervisor in charge of and responsible for the operation of a laboratory. Demonstrate accountability for day to day laboratory operations, review quality control, and performance improvement activities. Conduct timely performance of specimen testing. Record and archive test and QC results. Maintain inventory and statistics. Oversee the shifting of staff to areas of need or assign staff additional duties in order to maintain a smooth work flow. Coordinate administrative operations for the laboratories. Be flexible, as the duties and responsibilities are not limited to the above description.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent in Medical Technology, Physical, or Biological Science.
  • New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist Licensure.
  • 4+ years of experience in Chemistry and Hematology laboratories.
  • Or, a satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education and training to the above.

Nice To Haves

  • ASCP certification preferred.
