About The Position

The Lead Clinicians conduct mental health assessments for all unaccompanied children (UC) in care, as well as provide ongoing individual and group counseling just as Clinicians, but with the added responsibilities of coordinating clinical services, training new clinicians, and supervising clinical staff. Lead clinicians are designated when more than one clinician is on staff at a care provider facility. The ideal candidate for our program is a self-motivated and dedicated person who is excited and passionate about helping infants, toddlers, and families grow in development and in education. You are a personable, energetic, and empathetic leader who can manage multiple staff, managers, and multiple projects in a prior project in a prioritized manner to meet our internal Urban Strategies goals of all current Refugio Performance Standards.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, LMFT, Counseling, or other relevant behavioral science in which clinical experience is a program requirement.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in one of the aforementioned behavioral sciences plus seven years of clinical employment experience in behavioral sciences.
  • Five years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience, group and individual counseling, and related treatment services.
  • Must be licensed within their state of residence to practice therapy. A copy must be provided to HR.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct mental health assessments for all unaccompanied children (UC) in care.
  • Provide ongoing individual and group counseling.
  • Coordinate clinical services.
  • Train new clinicians.
  • Supervise clinical staff.
  • Utilize trauma theory and brief therapeutic techniques to work with unaccompanied children entering the United States during a typical stay of 30-35 days.
  • Screen for human trafficking concerns.
  • Provide ongoing individual and crisis intervention.
  • Prepare goal-oriented diagnostic assessments, group counseling, staff training and program enrichment.
  • Provide guidance to all members of the program staff.
  • Carry up to nine cases, with additional supervisory and management responsibilities.
  • Upon request, this role may be required to travel with UC, 14 and under, to locations in the United States.
