The Lead Engineer is a specialist-level engineering role that solves complex problems, manages work, and provides engineering leadership with minimal supervision and increased latitude for unreviewed work. The role provides guidance to others and requires advanced skills and the ability to work independently. The Lead Civil-Structural Engineer provides technical expertise for complex civil-structural engineering problems, leads and coordinates complex studies and projects, prepares technical documentation and recommendations, and helps develop standards and improve business processes. The role also supports organizational goals, maintains effective working relationships and records, and coaches and mentors engineering and non-degreed engineering professionals. This is a hybrid position based in the Carolinas, in the Charlotte or Raleigh area, with flexibility for other Duke Energy service areas. Employees work onsite at an assigned facility an average of three full workdays per regular workweek after onboarding, with additional power plant visits potentially required for outages or project support. The work environment may include power plant exposures and physical activities. Base hours are day shift, 10 hours per day, four days per week, or an alternate Fridays-off schedule. Rarely, weekend, holiday, overtime, and callout work may be needed.
