About The Position

This position is responsible for providing childcare services for children, including personal care, hygiene, learning and developmental activities, and specialized programs. The Lead Childcare Worker prepares and maintains records and meets with Case Managers to discuss the progress of children. They utilize positive parenting practices in dealing with negative behaviors of children, maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the property, and monitor the performance of Child Care Worker staff, including training, evaluation, and corrective measures as appropriate.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Three years’ experience teaching child development classes to children OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must be cleared by Local Law Enforcement, State of Florida Dept of Children and Families and FBI background screens.
  • Valid State of Florida Driver's License and driving record approved by Territorial Headquarters Risk Management.
  • Must possess valid CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • This position requires a level 2 background screening.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures and provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
  • Assists in development and implementation of activity plans which are age-group program specific; utilizes age-group appropriate discovery areas, enriched with program-specific activities, including materials and hands-on activities.
  • Encourages and participates in activities; assists in direction of staff involvement.
  • Determines appropriate supplies and materials for activity plans and recreational activities; ensures the children's safety in utilizing the same.
  • Supervises a staff of up to 6 Child Care Workers per shift; provides staff instruction and trains in approved methods and procedures for dealing with child clients.
  • Prepares and maintains records.
  • Meets with Case Managers to discuss progress of children.
  • Utilizes positive parenting practices in dealing with negative behaviors of children.
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of property.
  • Monitors performance of Child Care Worker staff; trains, evaluates, and takes corrective measures as appropriate.
