About The Position

We're looking for a compassionate, organized, and energetic Child Watch Lead who has a genuine passion for caring for children and creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for families at the Kroc Center. In this role, you'll support Child Watch staff, oversee daily operations, maintain a clean and inviting play space, and help plan fun, enriching activities. The Child Watch area is open 8:00 am - 12:00pm and 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm Monday through Friday as well as 8:00 am - 12:00 pm Saturdays. The Lead Child Watch Attendant works 25 hours per week with the primary shift being afternoons and evenings, with a requirement to work 2 Saturdays a month. Flexibility is required. The pay rate for this role is $17.50 An Additional $1.00/hour is paid for any shift worked from Friday at 4:00pm through Sunday. Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of related experience caring for children.
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • First Aid, CPR and AED Certification for Adult, Child, and Infant to obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • A valid Wisconsin Driver’s license with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army’s insurance carrier.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to address multiple projects in a timely manner while being responsive and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office products, e-mail, and Internet.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Membership Services Manager with the development and training of Child Watch Attendants.
  • Patiently supervise multiple children.
  • Plan activities to entertain, teach, and mentor young children while their parents/guardians participate in Kroc programs and events.
  • Be thoroughly knowledgeable on Child Watch programs and services.
  • Proactively ensure a safe environment for all Kroc Center staff, volunteers and children in the Child Watch area.
  • Schedules Child Watch staff, monitors and reports to Membership Services Manager on the work performance of the attendants.
  • Assist in training and development of Child Watch Attendants.
  • Participate in activities with young children in Child Watch.
  • Assist in the planning, directing and guidance of the programs and activities of Child Watch.
  • Assist in the development of systems that safeguard all facilities, supplies and equipment related to the programs.
  • Utilize the office support system that will allow for timely and accurate record keeping, including the areas of statistical reports related to all Child Watch programs and other reporting as required.
  • Ensure the attractive appearance, operational function, and general upkeep of the Child Watch area including equipment, toys and furnishings.
  • Assist in the procurement, maintenance and repair of equipment, toys and furnishings as necessary.
  • Participate in designated staff meetings, training and professional development courses as directed by supervisor.
