About The Position

Buffalo City Mission is seeking a Lead Chef to work full-time at their men's shelter. This role is rooted in the organization's mission to serve individuals facing barriers to stability, offering them a chance to rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose, guided by faith and compassion.

Requirements

  • High School degree or GED minimum.
  • Minimum of 5 years culinary experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.
  • SERV Safe certified.
  • Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and MSDS information.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • In the midst of a mature walk with Jesus Christ.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting the Food Service Manager with preparing the department's yearly budget and working within the budget's constraints.
  • Direct kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and cleanup.
  • Assist in overseeing food service needs for the Daycare to ensure all needs are being met.
  • Assign tasks and duties, supervise attendants, cooks, stewarding, volunteers, and specialty department coordinators.
  • Assist in menu planning, ordering, and implementing donations from outside resources to create a nutritional and healthy menu.
  • Maintain an open relationship with all vendors, and donation providers through deliveries and communication.
  • Resolve any issues as they arise. Bring issues to the attention of the Food and Beverage Manager.
  • Maintain all kitchen reports, such as all temperature logs and meal counts.
  • Always uphold a clean environment and be in a state of readiness for all inspections.
