About The Position

The Lead Certified Surgical Technologist at HCA Healthcare provides leadership in the operating room, guiding the surgical technologist team and helping ensure safe, advanced surgical care. The role works with a collaborative surgical team and supports preparation, procedures, quality, safety, and efficient teamwork. The position includes scrubbing in and assisting surgeons during complex cardiac surgeries, while also mentoring colleagues and helping train new team members.

Requirements

• One year of recent experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), with demonstrated competency in multiple inpatient and outpatient surgical specialties.
• One year of recent Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) experience in Neuro cases.
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David’s Healthcare policy.

Responsibilities

• Organize operating room suites, equipment, and instruments to ensure readiness for procedures.
• Scrub in and support surgeons during complex cardiac surgeries, anticipating needs and maintaining a safe, sterile environment.
• Guide and mentor surgical technologists, serve as a role model, train new team members, and reinforce best practices.
• Manage counts and specimens and ensure compliance with infection prevention standards.
• Promote teamwork and efficiency through effective communication, rapid problem-solving, and support for on-call and emergency cases.
