About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician – Home Infusion supports the preparation, compounding, and dispensing of sterile medications for patients receiving infusion therapy in the home setting. This role ensures the highest standards of accuracy, sterility, and patient safety while operating in a fast-paced environment that requires exceptional multitasking, organization, and attention to detail. The technician works collaboratively with pharmacists and the healthcare team to ensure timely and compliant delivery of infusion therapies. Certified Pharmacy Tech - Lead provides support for the interview process, evaluation process, establishing schedules, and adjusting/communicating assignments.

Requirements

  • High School or GED required
  • Approved Pharmacy Technician Certification.
  • Active registration as a Certified Tech with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy
  • 2 year minimum experience
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in accordance with Policies, Standard Operation Procedures, and State Laws
  • Must be able to work in a stressful and fast paced environment
  • Must be physically able to perform strenuous activity such as lifting, pushing, and repetitive movement.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of experience in hospital pharmacy preferred
  • Knowledge of relevant USP Chapters preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe patient and work environment
  • Maintains an understanding of readying room temperature and pressure monitors for Environment Compliance in accordance with USP Chapters <797> and <800>
  • Maintains knowledge of different medication classes and special handling requirements according to policies and standard operating procedures
  • Cost effective utilization of supplies and resources
  • Maintains working knowledge of standard operating procedures and standard work instructions
  • Maintains working knowledge of Pharmacy related USP Chapter Updates
  • Utilizes software systems appropriately and demonstrates continuous learning
  • Oversee technician training, development, including identification and correction of deficiencies
  • Reviews and assists with the establishment of operational policies and standard work instructions
  • Assists with monitoring regulatory compliance (quality assurance, safety, USP 797/800, USP 795, joint commission standards, Ohio State Board of Pharmacy rules etc)
