About The Position

At Pennings & Sons, we take great pride in providing creative and outstanding residential building and remodeling solutions for our clients. We’ve been building character into homes for over 50 years. Pennings & Sons is looking for a Lead Carpenter to assist in our residential remodeling and building projects by managing a framing crew as well as doing a variety of construction tasks. You will have the opportunity to work independently and within team settings to produce great quality work for our clients, as you master your craft.

Requirements

Must be able to pass a DOT Physical and drug screen (REQUIRED)
Must have a valid driver’s license (REQUIRED)
Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 80lbs
Must be willing to learn, adopt and follow company core values
Confident enough to work at heights
Able to understand warning signs and labels on a construction site
The ability to interact and communicate appropriately with supervisor(s), manage the crew, subcontractors, and clients.
Proficient in English for purposes of jobsite safety, business operations, and ability to effectively communicate regarding a job's plans, specifications, etc.
Thorough attention to detail/ Maintain project timelines
Maintain confidence & lead by example

Nice To Haves

Residential Construction experience: 2-3 years (Preferred)
Framing experience: 6-10 years (Preferred)
Must have a strong background in Framing

Responsibilities

Assist with all aspects in production of our jobs
Read and interpret Blueprints
Provide layout for floors, walls and roofs
Frame floor systems both I-joists and conventional
Frame walls out of studs, headers and LVL material
Sheath and house wrap exterior walls
Measure, cut Materials and install all aspects of Framing including rafters & stair stringers
Install Truss packages
Install roof sheathing
Install Exterior doors and windows with proper flashing tape
Deck framing, decking and railings
