Under the direction of the General Section supervisor, this role assists in supervising and coordinating the activities of the General Section, including locksmiths, carpentry, painting, tile setting, flooring, sheetrock and groundskeeping. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 5-8 years related work experience required
  • Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access
  • Ability to make decisions that are guided by general instructions and practices requiring some interpretation. May make recommendations for solving problems of moderate complexity and importance.
  • Ability to address problems that are varied, requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation using direct observation, knowledge, and skills based on general precedents.
  • Ability to follow precedents and procedures. May set priorities and organize work within general guidelines. Seeks assistance when confronted with difficult and/or unpredictable situations. Work progress is monitored by supervisor/manager.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
  • Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of concepts, practices and policies with the ability to use them in complex, varied situations.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the General supervisor, schedules, estimates, assigns, supervises and controls costs of maintenance and repair on all building structures, roadways, grounds and parking areas.
  • Receives written and verbal assignments of tasks from supervisor, accomplishes tasks according to priority or schedules and reports of completion.
  • Maintains required records and reports regarding maintenance, repair and new installation for all buildings and systems assigned to section.
  • Contacts vendors, suppliers and contractors to receive quotes, make repairs and install new equipment, etc.
  • Assists and/or supervises, in the absence of the general section supervisor, the efforts of the Maintenance Operations Department as well as the contractors involved with snow removal.
  • Works with the Operations Manager and other supervisors in Maintenance Operations to ensure adequate manpower and materials are available during snow and ice storms.
  • Provides 24-hour service as needed for operational and emergency situations and responds to the medical center for emergency conditions.
  • Maintains adequate repair parts and supplies on hand to handle normal and emergency repairs.
  • Provides training to departmental personnel regarding use of snow removal equipment and personnel in this section on painting, procedures, locksmith activities and general maintenance of carpentry.
  • Performs all other assigned duties.
