Get to Know Your Team: Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is an 83-bed acute care hospital offering services such as Cardiology, Emergency Services and a Level IV Trauma Designated ER, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Total Joint Replacement, Gastroenterology, Diagnostic Services, and more.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or graduate of an accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology.
  • Registered Technologist (RT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with a license by the Department of State Health Services Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) or credentials of a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) with a limited license by the Texas Department of State Health Services Medical Radiologic Technologist (LMRT) preferred.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification
  • Demonstrated ability to operate medical equipment including diagnostic x-ray equipment, contrast power injector, Cardiology Picture Archiving Communication System (CPACS), Hemodynamic Equipment, Electrophysiology Equipment, stretchers, wheel chairs, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years of experience as a lead technologist in all facets of the cardiovascular laboratory and background in cardiovascular technology (hemodynamics, electrophysiology) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Heart & Vascular Center Director in the delivery of personalized, professional and quality patient care, internal and external customer service, supervision of staff, coordination of technical imaging and nursing activities and performing technical procedures or nursing care commensurate with the incumbent’s level of education and/or licensure.
  • Assists in planning and leadership to the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory by developing staffing plans and staff education.
  • Assists in human resources activities such as interviewing, hiring, training, counseling, scheduling, verifying payroll and employee performance.
  • Assists in the Quality Assurance / Improvement Program of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
  • Participates in all inspections and surveys of the department.
  • Ascertains and oversees all NCDR data insuring the metrics are completed and correctly reported on time.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of a supply inventory system ensuring that patient care is uninterrupted.
  • Assists in the development and revision of department policies and procedures ascertaining that Joint Commission, local, state and federal accrediting and licensing bodies’ requirements are met.
  • Ascertains that utilization records are maintained for federal accrediting and licensing bodies.
  • Maintaining the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Performs quality control on equipment and notifies management immediately of any potential malfunction or hazard of equipment.
  • Adheres to appropriate radiation safety, practicing the concept of As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).
  • Maintains effective communication with medical staff, administrative staff, nursing staff and other team members.
  • Explains cardiovascular procedure to the patient and / or family member in a thorough and professional manner.
  • Obtains patient’s history prior to cardiovascular procedure.
  • Serves as patient advocate and ensures patient autonomy.
  • Performs imaging and table side assistance for diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures.
  • Operates hemodynamics system, entering patient’s demographics, monitoring, recording, mapping and documenting patient information prior, during and after procedure.
  • Provides minimal nursing care to patient, ascertaining the patient is comfortable in the department. Establishes IV access. Seeks additional nursing or physician assistance when necessary.
