About The Position

HDHV is seeking an experienced Lead Cardiac Sonographer to join and guide our echocardiography team. This role combines advanced clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring the highest standards of imaging quality, patient care, and operational efficiency. The Lead Cardiac Sonographer will perform high-quality echocardiographic exams-including transthoracic, stress, and contrast studies-while serving as a clinical resource, mentor, and team leader within the department.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field.
  • Current certification in echocardiography: ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI (RCS)
  • Minimum 2–3 years of cardiac sonography experience (lead or senior experience preferred).
  • Current BLS/CPR certification required.
  • Strong clinical, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods and assist patients as needed.
  • Strong physical stamina and a commitment to exceptional care are essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior lead, charge, or preceptor experience.
  • Expertise in advanced echocardiography techniques.
  • Experience with IV placement for contrast studies.
  • Strong problem-solving and workflow management abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and analyze echocardiograms, including TTE, stress, and contrast studies.
  • Collaborate closely with cardiologists to ensure accurate and timely interpretation.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records and imaging documentation.
  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, and education throughout procedures.
  • Confidently explain imaging procedures and answer patient questions.
  • Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and patient privacy standards.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, function, and disease processes.
  • Ensure ultrasound equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and functioning.
  • Serve as the lead technical expert for echocardiography services.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and onboarding for sonographers and staff.
  • Oversee daily workflow, patient scheduling coordination, and efficiency.
  • Ensure consistency, quality assurance, and adherence to imaging protocols.
  • Partner with leadership and physicians to improve processes and expand services.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and support accreditation readiness.
  • Monitor and maintain department supplies and inventory.
  • Stay current with advancements in echocardiography and implement best practices.
  • Act as a point of contact for troubleshooting clinical or operational challenges.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and patient-centered work environment.
  • Promote teamwork free from discrimination or bias.
  • Support cross-functional clinic needs and assist with additional duties as assigned.
