About The Position

The Alaska Club is hiring Lead Camp Counselors for their camp programs for kids ages 5-12. This is a fun and dynamic position in a fitness environment that offers a great team atmosphere and flexible work schedule. Lead Camp Counselors are responsible for fostering a fun and stimulating environment for children through various activities, ensuring a safe environment, and communicating with families and agencies. This role provides an opportunity to develop leadership and teaching skills.

Requirements

• 21 years of age or older.
• 12 semester hours or college credits in early childhood development, child development, child psychology, or the equivalent OR hold a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or Montessori Certificate.
• Must have an understanding of the development of children.
• Must have the skills to work with children, family members, department staff, community agencies, and fellow staff.
• Ability to handle finances and plan and evaluate programs.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Ability to multi-task and lead group activities (arts & crafts, sports, games, etc).

Responsibilities

• Facilitate a variety of activities to keep kids active and stimulated.
• Ensure a safe environment for children.
• Communicate daily with families and agencies as needed.
• Supervise and account for kids ages 5-12.
• Support fellow Camp Counselors and cooperate as a team.
• Stand and move to facilitate activities.
• Handle finances.
• Plan and evaluate programs.
• Lead group activities (arts & crafts, sports, games, etc).
