About The Position
ThinkTek LLC is seeking Cabling Installers to support a Department of War client at the Pentagon in the National Capital Region. This role performs structured copper cabling and wireless access point installation in support of a wireless network lifecycle replacement effort, including cable pulls, terminations, and testing under the direction of the crew lead.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Active Top Secret security clearance
- BICSI Installer 2, Copper (INSTC) certification
- 2 to 3 years of structured copper cabling experience
- Proficiency in Category 6 cable pulling, termination, and testing to ANSI/TIA-568 standards
- Ability to read cabling plans and follow installation drawings
- Ability to perform physical installation work, including working on ladders and lifts and lifting up to 50 pounds
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience working within the Pentagon and familiarity with its telecommunications infrastructure
- Experience installing within SCIF or other classified spaces, including familiarity with TEMPEST, ICD 705, and Red/Black separation requirements
- Additional BICSI credentials
- OSHA 10 or 30, lift, or fall-protection certifications
- Experience with cable certification test equipment (e.g., Fluke DSX)
Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, label, and test Category 6 copper cabling in support of wireless access point installation
- Perform cable pulls through pathways, telecommunications rooms, and ceiling spaces in accordance with approved plans
- Test and troubleshoot copper cabling to ANSI/TIA-568 standards using industry-standard test equipment
- Install and mount access points and verify connectivity between the copper cabling and each access point
- Remove legacy access points, cabling, and mounting hardware, and support site restoration including fire-stop and ceiling-tile replacement
- Support inventory and accountability of new and removed components
- Maintain accurate labeling and support updates to cabling documentation
- Follow quality control, safety practices, and applicable codes and standards
