About The Position

The Lead Benefit Navigator plays a pivotal role in guiding patients through the complexities of healthcare costs, insurance coverage, Medicaid, and financial assistance programs. This role serves as a subject matter expert, providing specialized support in completing, submitting, and securing approvals for Medicaid and financial assistance applications. The Lead Benefit Navigator is a primary resource for patient inquiries, ensuring clarity and accessibility in financial options. They collaborate with RevCycle teams, offering expert cross-coverage and support to enhance the overall patient financial experience. Additionally, this role supports day-to-day operations by assisting with workflows, metrics, and training.

Requirements

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
  • Three years' experience in medical office, financial services, medical billing, or healthcare financial assistance: Required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s/Technical Degree in healthcare administration, business administration, finance or accounting or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Educates patients on healthcare costs, insurance coverage, and available Medicaid and financial assistance programs to ensure they understand their financial responsibilities and options.
  • Assists patients in completing, submitting, and tracking financial assistance applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Determines approval decisions on Medicaid and financial assistance applications and apply necessary adjustment(s) to patient balances.
  • Maintains accurate financial records, ensures compliance with healthcare regulations, and upholds patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and other policies.
  • Serves as the primary resource for patients, associates and peers with questions regarding workflows, Medicaid, and financial assistance.
  • Provides customer service support.
  • Meets with patients both in person and virtually to review their Medicaid or financial assistance questions and to assist with completion of applications.
  • Is a knowledge expert on Benefit Navigator workflows and processes.
  • Will train and perform quality assurance.
  • Understands and reviews metrics.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
