About The Position

The Omni Ft. Lauderdale Hotel is a 29-story hotel, located at 1950 Eisenhower Blvd, and connected directly to the Broward County Convention. The property offers 801 guest rooms and suites, multiple restaurants, a vibrant rooftop bar, a sprawling pool, spa, and fitness center. The hotel has over 120,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, including a grand ballroom, junior ballroom, 25 breakout rooms and pre-function meeting space with waterfront views. JOB PURPOSE Ensure the proper setup of meeting and banquet facilities while serving as a lead resource for the banquet setup team. Assist in coordinating daily operations, supporting team members, promoting departmental standards, and developing leadership skills in preparation for future advancement opportunities.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one (1) year of banquet setup experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example and positively influence team performance.
  • Ability to provide coaching, training, and guidance to team members while fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments, coordinate team efforts, and support operational goals in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to motivate, develop, and support fellow associates while maintaining department standards.
  • Ability to effectively communicate expectations and provide constructive feedback in a professional manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous lead, trainer, mentor, or leadership experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to review event details, safety reminders, service expectations, and special client requests.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new housepersons on proper lifting techniques, setup standards, hotel procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Serve as a lead point of contact for banquet housepersons during assigned shifts, providing guidance and support to ensure successful event execution.
  • Meet with banquet housepersons daily to reinforce uniform standards, appearance guidelines, and departmental expectations.
  • Review daily worksheets and assist with assigning responsibilities to banquet housepersons.
  • Support the Banquet Setup Manager by monitoring team performance and providing coaching, mentorship, and developmental feedback.
  • Help maintain a positive and productive work environment by encouraging teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Assist the Banquet Setup Manager in documenting performance concerns and addressing operational issues in accordance with hotel policies and procedures.
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly feedback to associates and communicate operational observations to the Banquet Setup Manager.
