About The Position

In this role you will serve as a leader for lower-level technicians and mechanics in a vehicle maintenance facility. You will also personally perform the most complex repairs and maintenance on all types of motor vehicles used in the postal fleet.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years professional automotive mechanic experience
Valid State Driver's License
High School Diploma/GED
Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair USPS fleet vehicles
Perform preventive maintenance and major repairs
Use computerized diagnostic equipment
Repair engines, brakes, steering, suspension, transmissions and electrical systems
Lead and provide technical guidance to other technicians
Maintain repair records and follow all safety procedures
Willing to complete a hands-on automotive skills assessment
Willing to complete the USPS Federal online application

Responsibilities

Provide technical guidance and instructions to mechanics and technicians on more difficult repairs
Conduct vehicle inspections, determine necessary repairs, and assign and schedule work for individual employees
Diagnose vehicles and perform operational checks on engines, major supporting systems, parts and components
Perform various computerized and electronic diagnostic tests using specialized equipment
Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair USPS fleet vehicles
Perform preventive maintenance and major repairs
Use computerized diagnostic equipment
Repair engines, brakes, steering, suspension, transmissions and electrical systems
Lead and provide technical guidance to other technicians
Maintain repair records and follow all safety procedures
