The Lead Automation & Control Systems Engineer works as part of a multi-discipline project team designing new PLC-based control systems, Safety Instrumented Systems, and other industrial control system platforms. The role prepares specifications and design materials for procurement and implementation of software, instrumentation, and control systems. It also offers opportunities to build Automation and Control Systems Engineering skills through mentoring, classroom-style technical sessions, on-the-job training in an Automation Lab, and peer learning through Sargent & Lundy's processes and Communities of Practice. The position has a hybrid arrangement combining work from home and office work, and may require travel to client offices and project sites. The position supports Sargent & Lundy's Government Services Division, which provides engineering design and consulting services to contractors operating U.S. Department of Energy sites and national laboratories. Work may involve projects related to environmental cleanup of the legacy nuclear weapons production complex, preservation of the nuclear deterrent, and facilities and systems for treating, storing, and disposing of nuclear waste or safely handling and processing nuclear material.
