Lead Atlassian Platform Architect

HealthEdgeRemote,
$137,000 - $148,000Remote

About The Position

HealthEdge is experiencing rapid growth and consolidation. The Business Technology team ensures the platforms powering our engineering and service delivery teams keep pace. We are hiring a Lead Atlassian Platform Architect to design and stand up our new Atlassian Cloud foundation. This is a greenfield build with a consolidation mandate. You will design a new Jira Software Cloud instance from the ground up, plan and sequence the migration of multiple existing Jira instances into it, and establish the governance model. You will own the architecture and standards. The Atlassian platform serves internal teams and external customers through service portals. You will architect for both, designing for regulated data and trust boundaries from day one. This role is for someone who has stood up an enterprise Atlassian Cloud tenant, has opinions on standardization vs. team flexibility, embraces AI, and prefers to own decisions.

Requirements

  • Deep Atlassian Cloud architecture experience: 8+ years in the Atlassian ecosystem, with 3+ in an architecture or platform design capacity.
  • Experience designing and standing up enterprise Jira Software Cloud environments.
  • Proven migration ownership: Led Cloud-to-Cloud consolidations at scale.
  • Experience building configuration standards that teams followed.
  • Depth in Jira Software, with working command of Confluence and JSM, including request types, SLAs, queues, portal design, knowledge structure, and deflection strategy.
  • Actively using Rovo, Atlassian Intelligence, Claude, and similar tools in current work.
  • Comfortable owning a plan, sequence, and set of dependencies.
  • Regulated environment experience (ideally healthcare, financial services, or similar), designing around access control, audit evidence, and data handling.
  • Experience owning a platform inside a company rather than delivering projects for clients.

Nice To Haves

  • ACP-620 for Jira Cloud migration or ACP-120 for Jira Cloud administration certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Design the target-state Atlassian architecture, including instance and tenancy design, project and workflow schemes, permission and issue security models, custom field strategy, and naming standards for Jira Software Cloud.
  • Lead the migration program, including planning discovery, assessment, and migration waves across multiple source instances, and owning sequencing and cutover decisions.
  • Build the governance model, establishing configuration standards, an architecture review mechanism, and change control with authority, while preserving engineering team flexibility.
  • Determine the appropriate use of out-of-the-box capabilities, marketplace apps, Forge/Connect, or custom development.
  • Architect for regulated data, owning Atlassian Access (SSO, SCIM provisioning, authentication policy, IP allowlisting), and designing permission architecture and data residency for audit compliance and separation of customer-facing portals from internal work.
  • Own the AI layer on the platform, designing the application of Rovo, Atlassian Intelligence, and Claude for knowledge management, search grounding, ticket deflection, and administrative automation.
  • Set the technical bar by mentoring other architects and administrators across the US, India, and Mexico, and creating reference architectures, decision records, and automation libraries.
