About The Position

The Team Leader / Lead Associate supports the safe, efficient and consistent operation of the assigned production area. This role provides daily direction to team members, coordinates production requirements, maintains quality and productivity standards, and supports continuous improvement. As part of the Rocky Mount Model Line, the Team Leader will also support improvement activities across Workplace Organization, Material Flow, Autonomous Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance.

Requirements

  • Previous manufacturing, warehouse, production or related experience.
  • Ability to provide direction and work effectively with others.
  • Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills; working knowledge of Excel and Word preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and apply Cornerstone Production System tools.
  • Ability to walk, stand and climb for up to 12 hours.
  • Frequently lift and carry 0–10 lbs.; occasionally lift and carry 10–50 lbs.
  • Frequently bend, squat, kneel, twist, push/pull and reach overhead.
  • Frequent use of hands for grasping and fine manipulation.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and work safely at all times.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous lead, Team Leader, coordinator or assistant-management experience preferred.
  • Exposure to Lean, 5S or continuous improvement is an asset, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Establish priorities, assign work and provide direction to team members.
  • Coordinate people, materials and equipment to support daily production requirements.
  • Monitor safety, quality, delivery and productivity performance.
  • Maintain high-quality standards and ensure procedures and standard work are followed.
  • Complete required production, quality and operating logs.
  • Identify and escalate safety, quality, equipment, material or production abnormalities.
  • Support employee training, coaching and engagement.
  • Participate in problem solving and continuous-improvement activities.
  • Support communication and handoff between shifts.
  • Maintain a visible floor presence and follow through on assigned actions.
  • Participating in pillar activities for Workplace Organization, Material Flow, AM and PM.
  • Supporting 5S, visual management, standard work and workplace organization.
  • Identifying production, material-flow and equipment abnormalities and helping drive actions to closure.
  • Supporting equipment-care and reliability activities with operators and Maintenance.
  • Participating in floor observations, Kaizen activities and improvement trials.
  • Supporting Activity Board reviews and tracking assigned actions.
  • Helping collect data, observations and evidence needed to measure improvement.
  • Coaching team members on new standards and reinforcing adherence.
  • Escalating barriers and missed commitments with urgency.
  • Helping ensure improvements are sustained as part of normal daily operations.
