About The Position

The Lead Assembler is responsible for safely, accurately, and efficiently assembling wood and metal components into finished products, including roof trusses, floor trusses, and wall panels, in accordance with design measurements and specifications. This role leads and supports the assembly team, ensuring production goals are met while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The Lead Assembler interprets design layouts, verifies material accuracy, and ensures proper use of tools and equipment throughout the assembly process. Additionally, this position monitors workflow, identifies and resolves production issues, and promotes a team-oriented environment focused on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to analyze technical problems, identify root causes, and develop effective, long-term solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to recommend process improvements that support business objectives.
  • Ability to assess situations, prioritize tasks, and make timely, sound decisions based on urgency and risk.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary and sensitive information.
  • Ability to read, or learn to accurately read, a tape measure.

  • Previous assembly or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately place pre-cut wood components onto jigs in accordance with truss or wall panel design specifications.
  • Assemble components using appropriate tools, including staple guns, ensuring secure and precise connections.
  • Measure and verify dimensions of trusses or wall panels to ensure accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
  • Position and apply metal connector plates at designated joints for permanent structural integrity.
  • Transfer completed products to the packaging and shipping area of the production line.
  • Operate computer programs to adjust jigs and associated equipment for specific builds.
  • Provide clear daily direction to team members, effectively assigning and prioritizing work tasks.
  • Monitor employee performance and productivity, offering constructive feedback and support.
  • Train new employees on job functions and provide ongoing development opportunities for existing team members.
  • Assist with performance evaluations and provide input as needed.
  • Support the employee selection process as directed by management.
  • Address performance or disciplinary issues with guidance from the manager.
  • Lead the assembly team in achieving production goals while maintaining safe equipment operation.
  • Train team members on the proper operation of truss and wall panel production equipment.
