About The Position

ZipStaff is seeking a hands-on lead developer to own the AS400 core and WebSphere EDI integrations at a major port and terminal operator. The role focuses on reverse-engineering RPG and CL, maintaining WebSphere MQ, Integration Bus, and B2B for EDI with shipping lines, customs, rail, and trucking, and building APIs that connect the AS400 to modern port tools. This is a hands-on lead position, not a coordinator role. The position is an on-site W2 contract in Newark, New Jersey, with no C2C or 1099 arrangements. The developer will map business rules, data structures, and workflows; maintain and expand IBM WebSphere middleware for automated EDI; develop and update maritime and logistics EDI maps; troubleshoot production transmissions, translations, spool, and batch jobs; and connect AS400 systems to modern web and SaaS tools. The role also includes documenting legacy business logic, schemas, architecture, and WebSphere routing paths. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future. Applications should highlight RPG/CL systems maintained, WebSphere EDI maps built, and supported transaction sets. Generic Java or middleware experience without AS400 and EDI experience will not be considered.
