About The Position

As a Lead Application Engineer within our MR Engineering team, you will develop MR pulse-sequence and clinical application capabilities that help improve image quality, clinical workflow, and data-acquisition efficiency. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary MR physics and software team, collaborating with engineers, Marketing, customers, and internal and external researchers to translate clinical and technical needs into new MR applications. This role combines MR physics, pulse-sequence/application development, and software engineering and provides the opportunity to take ideas from requirements and feasibility work through implementation and system integration.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of relevant professional or research experience, including applicable graduate-school or Ph.D. research experience.
  • Strong understanding of MR physics and medical-imaging fundamentals.
  • Experience working in Linux development environments.
  • Software-development experience in C.
  • Experience with object-oriented design and development, including C++.
  • Experience using Python for software development, analysis, testing, or related technical work.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary technical teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience designing, developing, modifying, or testing MR pulse sequences.
  • Experience developing MR clinical applications or working with MR imaging systems.
  • Experience with GE Signa EPIC programming language.
  • Experience conducting feasibility testing in clinical or similarly controlled environments.
  • Experience working within a regulated product-development environment.
  • Ability to understand customer or clinical needs and translate them into actionable technical requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate technical problems, use quantitative evidence, and collaborate across functions to develop solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn complex development environments and work effectively within established engineering processes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and evaluate new MR pulse-sequence and application features.
  • Develop solutions focused on improving MR image quality, workflow, and data-acquisition efficiency.
  • Partner with Marketing, customers, researchers, and engineering teams to understand clinical and technical needs and translate them into application requirements.
  • Perform pulse-sequence implementation and feasibility testing in clinical and development environments.
  • Apply statistical and quantitative analysis to evaluate performance and improve software quality.
  • Develop, test, and integrate software components into MR systems in accordance with established software-development policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues using MR physics, imaging fundamentals, software-development skills, and data-driven analysis.
  • Communicate technical findings, tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Collaborate across functions to move application-development work from concept through implementation and integration.
