The Lead Application Developer will work within a scrum team to bring designs and ideas to life for new or improved web applications, supporting a mix of internal and external clients. This involves collaborating with clients, product managers, architects, and software engineers to plan, design, develop, test, and implement impactful solutions for companies of all sizes. The role requires expertise in Mainframe Development with extensive experience in FIS 401k Recording products OmniPlus, OmniScript, and AdminWeb. The individual will be part of the SBS-RS Core Platform Omni SME team, testing and implementing FIS Omni releases, optimizing performance of OmniScripts, contributing to the Fund-Source expansion project, and participating in the Core Team for discovery and migration to a future 401k recordkeeping platform. As a Lead Developer, this role involves guiding projects, hands-on design, development, debugging, and deployment of software solutions, mentoring junior developers, and assigning user stories based on prioritization and technical interests. Requirements

  • Expert Mainframe Development with extensive experience with FIS 401k Recording products OmniPlus, OmniScript, AdminWeb.
  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent.
  • Mainframe Developer with 10+ years experience with FIS 401k Recording products OmniPlus, OmniScript, AdminWeb.
  • SME in 401k Recordkeeping, Cobol, Mainframe Development, CICS, and Batch Mainframe processing.
  • AI/LLM Exposure. Familiar with major AI platforms (OpenAI, Anthropic, others) and ability to leverage to enhance products and features.
  • AI-Assisted Dev Tools. Proficient with coding tools (ChatGPT, Claude, CoPilot, Amazon Q, Cursor, etc).
  • AI Best Practices. Effective prompt engineering, performance optimization, and secure data handling.
  • 8-12 years of experience in relevant skills gained and developed in the same or similar role.

Responsibilities

  • Work within a scrum team to bring designs and ideas to life for new or improved web applications.
  • Collaborate with clients, product managers, architects, and software engineers to plan, design, develop, test, and implement impactful solutions.
  • Start the day on a scrum call to prioritize and track work.
  • Choose user stories to work within a sprint cycle.
  • Spend most of the day developing and testing code.
  • Participate in release activities every three weeks.
  • Test and implement FIS Omni releases.
  • Optimize performance of OmniScripts.
  • Be a key member of the Fund-Source expansion project.
  • Be part of the Core Team tasked with discovery and migration to future 401k recordkeeping platform.
  • Work closely with the team to lead and guide projects to success.
  • Have a hands-on role designing, developing, debugging, and deploying software solutions.
  • Serve as a mentor to junior developers.
  • Balance the assigning of user stories through prioritization and consideration of the technical interests of each developer on the team.
  • Present work to up to 90 stakeholders during sprint demos.
  • Check in with the engineering team to identify priorities and challenges.
  • Share knowledge, motivate others, and keep everyone engaged and productive.
  • Review the team's work and help people excel in an Agile environment.
  • Proactively address potential issues and ensure finished products are polished.
  • Handle ad hoc requests from peers in other departments.
  • Present to senior leaders, product owners, and peers with a compelling voice.
  • Demonstrate executive presence, lead change, and create clear executive-level communications on milestone achievements.
