Lead Animal Care Attendant (Career Opportunities)
About The Position
Welcome to Destination Pet, a united team working together to elevate the love and lives of pet families. We are revolutionizing the pet industry. We're looking for a confident, compassionate, and capable Lead Animal Care Attendant to help guide the daily operations at The Posh Paw Pet Resort. This role is for someone who can manage various tasks simultaneously and is a go-to person for pet advice. Destination Pet is a community that lives to elevate the love and lives of pet families, offering services like day care, boarding, grooming, training, and veterinary services since 2016.
Requirements
- Must be able to work 1-11 hour shifts per week and 6-hour shifts four days a week, totaling 4-5 days per week.
- Open availability required, including evenings until 7 pm and weekends.
- Starting hours are 6 am during core boarding times.
- Previous leadership skills and knowledge with animal handling.
- Experience running a large day play group.
- Clear understanding of cleaning protocols in a boarding facility.
- High school diploma required.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and handle leashed dogs for most of the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Willingness to work with cleaning supplies, pet hair, and "accidents".
Nice To Haves
- Medication administration experience.
- CPR training (for pets or people).
- Med-savvy.
Responsibilities
- Leading the pack during assigned shifts, coaching, guiding, and setting the tone for pet care excellence.
- Working alongside Animal Care Attendants to ensure safety, cleanliness, and a positive environment for pets.
- Training new hires on proper pet handling, procedures, and facility operations.
- Monitoring pet guests for health, safety, and reporting any concerns to management.
- Serving food, fresh water, and providing daily care to pet guests.
- Overseeing medication administration and care for special needs guests.
- Bathing and brushing pet guests.
- Ensuring the facility is clean, cozy, and well-maintained.
- Other duties as assigned.
