Bally’s Media operates the Bally Sports Live and Stadium sports streaming services. Bally Sports Live is a free live streaming app that allows sports fans to engage with their favorite events in real-time while fostering interactive fan communities and earning rewards for activities. Stadium, a joint venture between Bally’s and Silver Chalice (owned by Jerry Reinsdorf, who also owns the Chicago Bulls and White Sox), is a free advertising-supported streaming (FAST) sports network distributed through partners such as Samsung TV Plus, Amazon Fire TV and Prime Video, Tubi, YouTube TV, DirecTV and Fubo. Sports and events that Bally Sports Live and Stadium broadcast include Minor League Baseball, Savannah Bananas, Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, GLORY Kickboxing, AVP Pro beach volleyball as well as betting shows. We’re looking for a Lead Android Engineer to help build the next generation of Bally Sports Live experiences across mobile and connected devices. In this hands‑on technical leadership role, you’ll shape the apps fans rely on to watch games live, interact with content, and engage with sports in entirely new ways. You’ll architect and deliver high‑performance Android applications designed for live streaming, real‑time interactivity, and gamified fan experiences. Working closely with Product and Design, you’ll bring new features to life across a modern Android stack using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Firebase. From kickoff to kickoff, your work will directly impact how fans watch, play, and connect with their favorite teams. This role is a current vacancy, and we are actively seeking a candidate to join the team.

Requirements

6+ years of Android development experience, including 3+ years using Kotlin
Track record of shipping high scale consumer digital products, preferably media, sports, or entertainment apps
Deep understanding of Jetpack Compose, ViewModel, Navigation, Room, and other Jetpack libraries
Experience integrating and managing Firebase services across multiple app modules
Excellent understanding of Agile methodologies and backlog management, with the ability to translate product requirements into clear, actionable engineering tasks
Passionate about sports, streaming technology, gaming and/or digital advertising industries
Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product and Design and with engineers internally and externally
Proven expertise debugging, profiling, and performance analysis skills (memory leaks, rendering time, etc.)
Experience leveraging AI-powered tools and automation solutions to improve development efficiency, simplify debugging, and optimize workflows

Nice To Haves

Experience with Amazon Fire TV and Android TV development
Familiarity with video streaming pipelines (HLS, ad insertion, DRM, adaptive bitrate streaming, etc.)
Prior experience working in a startup or entrepreneurial environment

Responsibilities

Own the Android product experience end‑to‑end, from architecture and performance optimization to feature development and UI polish
Lead development of Kotlin‑based Android applications that power live sports streaming, interactive features, and gamified fan engagement
Architect and implement modern Android solutions using Jetpack Compose and the latest Jetpack libraries
Optimize video playback performance, buffering behavior, and UI responsiveness for live streaming experiences
Integrate observability and analytics tools such as Datadog and Firebase Crashlytics to maintain production‑grade reliability
Partner closely with Agile product teams (Product Managers and Product Designers) to define priorities, make smart tradeoffs, and deliver features fans love
Collaborate with iOS, connected TV, and backend teams to ensure consistent experiences across every platform where fans watch
Drive efficient CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, improving build, test, and release workflows
Lead and mentor Android developer, including third‑party partners, raising the bar for code quality, architecture, and engineering best practices
Stay current with Android platform updates, UI/UX standards, and emerging technologies to keep our apps modern and competitive
