About The Position

GE Vernova is modernizing its forecasting capabilities to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and strategic value of its power system outlooks. The Lead Analyst, Energy Forecasting & Advanced Analytics will help build GE Vernova’s next-generation forecasting platform by contributing to model development, data engineering, automation, advanced analytics, and operational execution. This hands-on technical role will help translate strategy into scalable, production-ready forecasting capabilities while supporting the adoption of modern analytics and AI-enabled workflows across the forecasting function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, data science, economics, or a related field from an accredited university or college.
  • 3–5 years of experience in energy analytics, forecasting, power markets, advanced analytics, data science, or a related technical field with strong interest in energy.
  • Strong proficiency with modern analytical tools and programming languages such as Python, R, Julia, or similar.
  • Experience working with large datasets and analytical workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI, advanced analytics, data science, or quantitative methods in market analysis, forecasting, or decision support.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with energy system models, including capacity expansion, production cost, dispatch, power system optimization, or related models.
  • Experience with data tools such as SQL, cloud platforms, APIs, Power BI, Python, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with power markets, generation technologies, and energy policy.
  • Exposure to AI, machine learning, or generative AI tools in analytics workflows.
  • Experience transitioning analytical workflows from Excel into scalable modeling environments.
  • Ability to partner effectively with domain experts and translate between technical, economic, and business perspectives.
  • Experience building or modernizing analytics capabilities in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong curiosity, continuous learning mindset, attention to detail, and ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects with urgency.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to distill complex issues into clear, simple messages.
  • Advanced degree such as an MBA, master’s degree, or PhD in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain components of capacity expansion models, production cost and dispatch models, and scenario and sensitivity analysis frameworks.
  • Translate business and domain inputs into structured, testable model logic.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines for internal and external datasets.
  • Clean, transform, and validate large datasets for modeling use.
  • Support data governance practices and standardized modeling inputs.
  • Develop analytical tools in Python, R, Julia, or similar languages to modernize spreadsheet-based workflows.
  • Implement automation for recurring forecasting processes.
  • Contribute to reusable code, libraries, and analytics modules that improve scalability and consistency.
  • Apply AI tools to support data extraction and processing from structured and unstructured sources.
  • Use AI-enabled approaches to summarize market reports and datasets and enhance modeling inputs.
  • Support experimentation with emerging AI methods across forecasting workflows.
  • Execute forecasting runs and calibrate, validate, and interpret model outputs.
  • Identify and resolve model, data, and workflow issues.
  • Improve the performance, scalability, and usability of forecasting models over time.
  • Partner with domain experts to understand assumptions, market logic, and forecasting requirements.
  • Contribute to analysis of market trends and model outputs.
  • Help prepare clear insights and decision-support materials for internal stakeholders.
