About The Position

Walden Behavioral Care is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Lead Ambulatory Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide clinical leadership and psychiatric care across our Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs in Waltham, Westborough, and Middletown. This is a 24-hour per week hybrid role that combines direct patient care with program oversight, clinical coordination, and leadership responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
  • Active licensure in Massachusetts and Connecticut (or ability to obtain)
  • DEA license and prescriptive authority
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of psychiatric clinical experience, preferably in PHP/IOP or similar settings
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and team collaboration skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with eating disorder populations preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management for patients in PHP level of care, as needed.
  • Provide direct patient care coverage across sites, including during provider PTO and staffing gaps.
  • Ensure high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric treatment in alignment with organizational standards.
  • Serve as the lead NP for ambulatory services across assigned sites, supporting clinical consistency and best practices.
  • Develop and manage schedules for ambulatory NPs, ensuring appropriate coverage and operational efficiency.
  • Provide mentorship and clinical support to NP team members.
  • Participates in recruitment, hiring, and orientation of medical/psychiatry staff as needed.
  • Coordinate and provide cross-site coverage as needed, including both in-person and telehealth services.
  • Proactively address staffing needs, including short-term coverage planning and continuity of care.
  • Performs periodic reviews of medical records to ensure documentation meets compliance requirements for MNA, state licensing, and Joint Commission Accreditation regulations.
  • Interfaces with admissions regarding complex medical/psychiatric case referrals to Walden PHP/IOP programs.
  • Partner with the Director of Medical Operations and multidisciplinary teams to support program goals.
  • Participate in company-wide clinical initiatives, quality improvement efforts, and standardization of care models.
  • Contribute to policy and procedure development and implementation related to ambulatory psychiatric services.
  • Consults with IT regarding medical technology needs as requested. Participate in projects as assigned.
  • Participates with MNA leadership as requested with clinical projects.
