About The Position

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Lead Aircraft Sheetmetal Technician to join our New Helicopter Completions (NHC) team based in Columbus, MS. You will be part of the team to mentor, guide, and instruct technicians in the performance of progressive mechanical tasks in maintenance, cleaning, inspection, rework, customization and assembly of H125, H130, H135, H145, and H160 aircraft.

Requirements

  • Minimum eight (8) years of rotary aircraft experience, with two(2) of the eight (8) as a senior technician or equivalent
  • Helicopter maintenance experience
  • Airbus Helicopter airframe experience
  • Completion experience
  • Have clear understanding of Part 21 and Part 145 processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form in English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Systems (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Proficiency in SAP and MES systems used in Production of aircraft
  • Onsite or remote: 80%
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
  • Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
  • Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
  • Must be a US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license)

Responsibilities

  • Direct and provide structural/sheet metal support for new helicopter completions and deliveries, STC development, aircraft training fleet or demonstrations.
  • Perform and lead troubleshooting to diagnose malfunctioning systems and components to determine corrective action required to assure safety and airworthiness of aircraft.
  • Guide aircraft technicians and provide performance expectations within assigned area.
  • Control, assign personnel and monitor workflow according to schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with rules, regulations/company policies and procedures, such as but not limited to, FAA repair station, FOP/GOP, ISO, OSHA, etc...
  • Coordinate with engineering to ensure drawings, and work instructions are accurate as per aircraft configurations
  • Analyze work orders and drawings for granularity, accuracy and completeness, coordinate changes and improvements as necessary with the work prep department for continuous improvement.
