About The Position

The Lead Aide II position involves providing academic and behavioral support to students, assisting teachers with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). This role includes facilitating recreational activities, implementing assignments, documenting records, and managing classroom behavior systems. The position also supports scheduling, maintaining student support "Kits," and evaluating staff performance. Active supervision of students and staff, ensuring compliance with behavioral plans, and maintaining a safe physical environment are key responsibilities. The Lead Aide II will also assist with student care, attendance tracking, and other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Experience working in a school or treatment setting for students with learning or social/emotional problems as a Lead Aide I
  • DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance
  • Working knowledge of standard business practices and procedures
  • Computer-literate; knowledge of standard company software applications, internet
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Problem-solving ability and proven accuracy with detailed information
  • Proficient written and verbal English language communication skills, including business writing and professional telephone manner
  • Reliability, dependability and flexibility

  • Pro-Act, CPI and/or CPR certification helpful

Responsibilities

  • Assists the teacher with implementing the students' Individual Education Plans (IEP)
  • Able to understand and implement a BIP
  • Provides instructional support in content areas, as directed by the teacher
  • Participate in, and/or facilitate recreational activities of various sorts (i.e. athletic, arts, and crafts, off-campus trips, cultural awareness, etc.).
  • Implement provided written assignments, as needed
  • Document and report all legal, education, and service records/files as needed
  • Supports in record keeping, as directed by the teacher
  • Implements the classroom or social behavior management system, including coaching students so that they can quickly return to school tasks
  • Assist with the staffing of aides based on absences, late arrivals, and/or early departures
  • Support with placement of subs as necessary
  • Notify the teachers prior to a sub placement
  • Assist with maintaining "Kits" used both in training and for continued student/staff support
  • Ensure the "Kits" include documents regarding students and various resources for the aides to use daily such as service and break logs
  • Assist with distribution of "Kits" to behavioral aides
  • Review and evaluate the performance of all staff members to ensure the proper implementation of treatment/behavioral plans daily.
  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
  • Collaborate with school personnel with behavior support strategies.
  • Review all IEPs, ISAs, BIPs and BERs/Incident Reports for files to ensure compliance with Behavioral Aides
  • Helps maintain the physical school environment to keep it functional, safe, and clean
  • Supervises students during class breaks and during lunch
  • Assist students with eating, using the bathroom and moving from one classroom to another
  • Maintain consistent awareness of client's whereabouts to ensure safety, including directing clients to appropriate groups or areas in the community or school. Including but not limited to, transportation transitions
  • Reports daily attendance of students and staff to Supervisor
  • Assist with collection of staff monthly service and break logs
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned
