Lead AI/ML Engineer
About The Position
CGI is seeking a Lead AI/ML Engineer to develop and deliver AI powered Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) solutions within a large-scale financial services environment. This role will focus on document classification, information extraction, and document understanding using OCR, NLP, Computer Vision, and Large Language Models. The Lead AI/ML Engineer will work hands on with Python, Java, AI/ML frameworks, and AWS services to build scalable solutions and integrate AI capabilities through APIs and microservices. The role will also support model deployment, monitoring, MLOps, and CI/CD practices. As a technical lead, this individual will guide technical discussions, mentor engineers, and collaborate with business and technology teams to deliver reliable AI/ML solutions. Experience with mortgage, multifamily lending, commercial real estate, or broader financial services environments is highly valued.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years developing AI/ML solutions.
- Strong hands on experience with Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), including document classification and information extraction.
- Experience applying OCR, NLP, Computer Vision, and Large Language Models (LLMs) to document processing and understanding.
- Strong development skills in Python and Java.
- 5+ years of hands on AWS experience, particularly with services such as Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, Textract, Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, and RDS.
- Experience with AI/ML frameworks and libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit learn, Hugging Face, and LangChain.
- Experience developing REST APIs and microservices using Spring Boot, FastAPI, or comparable frameworks.
- Hands on knowledge of MLOps, including model deployment, monitoring, versioning, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of scalable software development practices, design patterns, and Agile delivery.
- Ability to lead technical discussions and provide technical direction while remaining hands on with development.
- Experience mentoring developers and collaborating with business, engineering, and technology stakeholders.
Nice To Haves
- Financial services domain experience preferred, particularly in mortgage, multifamily lending, or commercial real estate (CRE).
- AWS AI/ML or AWS Cloud certification preferred.
