ROLE PURPOSE: The purpose of the Lead Accountant role is to provide subject matter expertise in one or more accounting functions while helping modernize and simplify accounting processes. This role is responsible for timely, accurate processing of financial data in support of monthly financial reporting requirements for two legal entities. In addition, this role is a key contributor to audits and User Acceptance Testing activities.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and audit requirements
  • Ability to work both independently and with others in a team environment
  • Proficient at time management and determining procedure cost-effectiveness
  • Strong problem solving and analytical ability, with high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Courteous and collaborative business partner with vendors, customers, and all levels of employees
  • Comfortable learning and applying systems, reporting, and workflow tools to improve accuracy, efficiency, and consistency of accounting processes
  • Continuous improvement mindset with ability to identify practical opportunities to simplify recurring accounting work and strengthen documentation
  • Accounting Degree preferred
  • 3+ years accounting experience in Accounts Payables including multi-state sales & use tax filings
  • ERP system experience, Microsoft Business Central strongly preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills with Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams); experience with Power Query, Power Automate, or similar workflow and reporting tools preferred
  • Experience supporting process documentation, system testing, reporting improvements, or practical automation of recurring accounting activities preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support on-time monthly financial closings for multiple legal entities
  • Support parent company inquiries and reporting requirements (banking, trial balance, tax, etc.)
  • Reconciliation of sub-ledgers and balance sheet accounts with timely remediation of open items
  • Oversee timely processing of accounting documents and journal entries
  • Key contributor to one or more accounting activities (A/R, A/P, Sales/Use Tax, Purchase Orders, etc)
  • Coordinate and execute trainings in support of F&A policies
  • Ensure Job Aids are maintained and designated backups are properly trained
  • Lead and support audits and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
