About The Position

GAL AeroStaff Ltd. is an aerospace staffing company specializing in temporary and permanent staffing for general and technical positions in the aviation and aerospace industry. We are currently seeking two experienced Lead A&P Mechanics to support Slate Aviation’s expanded aircraft maintenance operations in Columbia, SC. The Lead A&P Mechanic will perform and coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and component replacements on CRJ and other regional aircraft. This position will also provide technical direction to assigned mechanics and help ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, accurately, and according to schedule.

Requirements

  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant license required
  • Minimum five years of CRJ or regional aircraft maintenance experience required
  • Must be available to work either first or second shift
  • Strong knowledge of CRJ and regional aircraft systems and maintenance practices
  • Ability to lead and coordinate the work of aircraft maintenance technicians
  • Experience performing and overseeing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical discrepancies
  • Ability to read and interpret approved technical documentation
  • Experience performing component removal, replacement, installation, and functional checks
  • Ability to review maintenance records for accuracy and compliance
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced maintenance environment
  • Ability to provide technical guidance while maintaining productivity and quality
  • Ability to work independently and make sound maintenance decisions
  • Ability to provide personal tools as required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous lead, supervisory, or maintenance management experience preferred
  • Experience working in an aircraft maintenance, repair, overhaul, or airline environment preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support maintenance activities on CRJ and regional aircraft
  • Assign and coordinate daily work for A&P Mechanics based on maintenance priorities
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and aircraft system discrepancies
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to assigned technicians
  • Monitor work progress and communicate maintenance status, delays, and operational concerns
  • Ensure maintenance is completed in accordance with approved technical data, company procedures, and FAA regulations
  • Review maintenance documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Coordinate with inspectors, maintenance management, planning, and other departments
  • Support component removal, replacement, installation, and operational checks
  • Assist with aircraft servicing, modification, and repair projects as assigned
  • Promote productivity, accountability, quality, and teamwork within the assigned crew
  • Ensure tools, equipment, work areas, and aircraft are maintained in a clean and safe condition
  • Work first or second shift based on operational requirements
  • Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned
