About The Position

The Leach Tank Operator Technical Lead serves as the on-site technical resource for daily issues encountered by process and/or inspection staff. This role involves assisting with process control challenges and conducting cross-training for team members.

Requirements

  • Certification in required areas based on departmental needs, or ability to certify within 90 days.
  • TATS certification and other certifications as required by departmental needs.
  • Willingness to adjust shift as required by team and production needs.
  • Willingness to perform various jobs required to process parts.
  • Ability to interface with other teams and support areas.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with clear and unambiguous instructions, ensuring directions are understood.
  • Ability to make "shop floor" presentations to customers, engineering, and other departments.
  • Must meet department qualifications, which may or may not be shift specific.

Nice To Haves

  • May be required to complete Hazardous Waste Management Training.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in staffing projections.
  • Handles first-line technical performance issues.
  • Communicates respectfully with employees regarding workmanship issues and notifies supervision when further action is required.
  • Provides fact-based input from a technical perspective for performance reviews and measurements.
  • Trains employees on new skills and works with them to improve or maintain satisfactory technical performance.
  • Provides feedback and coaching for continuous improvement of inspection personnel.
  • Coordinates resources to assist other teams as needed to meet daily throughput and support outside departments.
  • Ensures quality requirements are followed and corrects deficiencies, notifying appropriate parties when a process is variant.
  • Facilitates technique card and router changes.
  • Participates in root cause analysis for variant conditions.
  • Ensures the team has necessary tools and documents for inspections.
  • Assists with auditing, both as an auditor and as the focal point for the team during external audits.
  • Sets up molding parameters on new tools and evaluates/updates current parameters for process improvement.
  • Reviews tool shots for part quality and provides recommendations for improvements.
  • Reviews tool designs with engineering for functionality and part quality.
  • Works with molding/tool engineers for tool proving, providing feedback.
  • Works directly with process control for tool improvements.
  • Cleans dies, removes rust, and lubricates/greases dies.
  • Polishes out minor nicks and dings.
  • Replaces dowel/leader pins and sintered vents as needed (may be contracted out).
  • Repairs airboxes, including "O" rings and pins (may be contracted out).
  • Evaluates wax dies for damage and functionality.
  • Opens and displays dies for customers/vendors.
  • Interfaces with customers, engineering, and other departments for process walks and presentations.
  • Has the authority to correct interpretation calls by other department inspectors.
  • Contacts appropriate resources if an employee may not be fit for duty and addresses the issue promptly.
  • Assures compliance with safe work habits, housekeeping procedures, and company policies, notifying supervision of deviations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • May be assigned to multiple work centers or departments.
