About The Position

Lewis Central Lucky Children (LCLC) is seeking a Center Supervisor to support its school-age childcare program serving families within the Lewis Central Community School District. This full-time, year-round position will begin July 1, 2026, or sooner. This role works under the direction of the Director of LCEF & Youth Services, who serves as the licensed center director for the LCLC program. The Center Supervisor plays a key leadership role in overseeing daily program operations and supporting high-quality care for children during before and after-school programming, full-day non-student days, and summer programming. LCLC operates in partnership with the Lewis Central Community School District to provide a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for school-age children. The LCLC Center Supervisor supports LCLC staff, builds relationships with families and Lewis Central CSD school staff, and helps ensure consistent, high-quality programming across all program offerings.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Must have work experience working with children.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain certification or a provisional license through the Iowa Department of Human Services as a Site Supervisor including: Certification in pediatric CPR; pediatric first aid; and Iowa’s mandatory reporting of child abuse.
  • Have achieved a total of 75 points obtained through a combination of education, experience, and child development-related training as outlined in the chart and calculation described in subrule 109.6(1).
  • A minimum of two categories must be used, no more than 50 points may be achieved in any one category, and at least 10 points must be obtained from the experience category.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or equivalent coursework from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
  • Per Iowa Health and Human Services: The Department may issue a provisional license for up to one year to allow the director to meet qualifications. However, using a provisional license for those people who are “qualifiable” is not intended as an open-ended approval for anyone merely interested in operating a center. Some measure of education or a track record with early childhood or school-aged children is needed.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the daily operation of school-age childcare site, with special focus on safety and quality and works site as needed.
  • Oversees training and supervising staff for the childcare site.
  • Assists with implementing a clear and concise vision for high-quality programming through curriculum, lesson plans, behavior management, and customer service.
  • Assists with timely and informative communication with families through email, text, and social media.
  • Builds partnerships with school principals, administrative workers, facilities staff, teachers, and other school staff.
  • Assists with marketing and advertising efforts, writing newsletters, and social media posts.
  • Assists with managing all payments to the center for services and ensure prompt payment.
  • Maintain and update center records and licensing requirements in collaboration with the Director.
  • Assists parents and guardians with enrollment and registration, billing and other questions.
  • Supervises and evaluates all center staff.
  • Makes recommendations for hires and involuntary terminations in collaboration with the Director.
  • Reviews, manages approves and submits all timesheets, leave requests and schedules for center staff.
