The Layout Integration Engineer supports Vision, Site, Future, and Current Production layouts across GM manufacturing operations. In this role, you will create layouts, lead integration meetings, manage technical direction, and provide integration support for future program layout activities from concept through installation using 2D/3D AutoCAD and 3D point cloud data. This is a highly collaborative role that partners with plant, program, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to develop efficient, lean, and standards-compliant layouts across multiple North America facilities.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of layout experience utilizing AutoCAD
  • 3+ years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on manual field checking experience
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, plan, and execute manufacturing projects
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple customers at the same time
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to effectively organize and lead meetings or workshops
  • Strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills
  • College degree or equivalent experience and training
  • Ability to travel to North American facilities without restriction

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of 2D/3D layout experience utilizing AutoCAD
  • 3+ years of Production, Maintenance, or ME experience in a Powertrain manufacturing site
  • Experience with NavisWorks, Unigraphics (NX), and Cintoo
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Lean Material Flow
  • Working knowledge of GM standards and processes

Responsibilities

  • Execute the layout development and integration process for multiple GM North America facilities supporting Casting, Engine, Transmission, Drive Unit, and RESS
  • Provide subject matter expert support to plant, program, and ME Center customers
  • Ensure adherence to layout standards and procedures
  • Incorporate multi-discipline input into layouts to support lean, efficient processes with minimal floor space and building renovation
  • Lead integration meetings, develop and maintain issue lists, and facilitate a cross-functional layout development process
  • Generate installation-level design and detail as required
  • Maintain layout drawing files and process incoming files for adherence to Central Layout Group standards
  • Support additional layout and integration activities as needed
