Become a part of the “strength within.” Hexcel is currently seeking a Lay Up Operator for our Casa Grande, AZ, USA location. Start rate: $25.00 Per Hour during the New Hire Orientation Period – normally 90 calendar days, then increases to $27.31 Per Hour. This position is on Swing shift (3:00PM to 11:00PM, Monday – Friday + O/T as required) and pays a $1.75 per hour shift premium.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of six months experience required, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Must be proficient in use of tape measure and ruler.
  • Basic working knowledge of computer data entry function preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Eligible candidate must be a: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, person lawfully admitted for permanent residence, temporary resident under sections 210(a) or 245(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, person admitted in refugee status, or person granted asylum.

Responsibilities

  • Manually lays-up sheets of Nomex paper, glass, and various other products on top of each other to build blocks.
  • Repairs and reworks a wide variety of nonconforming materials that specifically contain uncured adhesive in order to meet the customer specifications and dimensions.
  • Sets-up the lay-up table and checks equipment to assure that everything works properly.
  • Lays up material by overlapping adhesive lines, heating each sheet, and maintaining an accurate sheet count until the specification for the block is met.
  • Completes and maintains routings and production run sheets.
  • Uses a variety of tools and the rework oven to repair and rework nonconforming materials.
