About The Position

The Antitrust Division is responsible for enforcing federal laws designed to ensure that U.S. markets remain free and open to robust competition. Its work includes civil and criminal litigation across the economy, including the prosecution of large international cartels involving multinational and Fortune 500 firms. The Division is soliciting law student volunteers for the Spring 2027 academic semester as an introduction to federal antitrust enforcement. The internship runs from January 2027 through May 2027 and is not remote. Interns may be assigned to one of four program areas: Civil Enforcement, Criminal Enforcement, Policy and Advocacy, or the Office of Chief Legal Advisor (OCLA). The Civil Enforcement Program challenges potentially anticompetitive mergers and acquisitions and investigates and prosecutes other civil non-merger offenses. The Criminal Enforcement Program prosecutes individuals and corporations for collusion, monopolization, and other antitrust crimes. Policy and Advocacy includes the Appellate Section, International Section, and Competition Policy and Advocacy Section. OCLA advises the Assistant Attorney General, deputies, Division managers, and staff on legal risks, operational vulnerabilities, jurisdiction, and law enforcement authority. Interns are not permitted to work in a legal capacity, public or private, during the internship. No benefits are provided for this appointment.
